The Story Behind NOOK…

Growing up, it was a rarity in my family that someone wasn’t baking or cooking in the kitchen. From my parents to my great-grandparents, memories were always being made in the process of creating delicious meals together. Most memorable were the baked goods of my family in the south, and the sweet tastes savored from Mommie, my great-grandmother in Columbia, South Carolina. In the corner of her tiny spaced kitchen, was a nook where the grandkids would always gather to watch her pour sugar into her brewed ice tea and await her freshly baked, tangy lemon pound cake. Mommie’s nook was the place the family would long remember, since her passing, as a place of pure happiness listening to her speak of life while savoring homemade tastes of the south.

Since memories of Mommie’s fresh pound cake and baked goods that continue to mark many moments, NOOK BAKERY was created. From a young age I’ve been inspired to bake fresh goods from scratch, to create memorable moments for others. Baking with whole ingredients, I’m passionate to create nostalgic baked goods with a modern, artistic design.

In business for two years now in Lakeland, Florida, NOOK has expanded from a vendor at the Lakeland Downtown Farmer’s Market to exclusive customer orders for special events.  Graduating this year with a degree in Business Marketing from Southeastern University, NOOK continues to take special orders and prepare for pop-up events.

From adorned cupcakes to old fashioned chocolate chip cookies to semi-nude layered cakes, NOOK bakery creates all things reminiscent of homemade childhood favorites. My passion is to make familiar recipes from scratch with bit of luscious nostalgia baked right into every bite. NOOK’s baked goods put a playful spin on classic homestyle desserts like flourless brownies and lemon tart cupcakes with fresh lemon curd baked inside. NOOK will surprise your taste buds with vibrant local flavors in a way that (respectfully) takes Grandma’s infamous recipes up a notch.
